Laboratory Workshop 1 - PAR - People - Animals - Robots Speakers Attendees You are invited to attend a workshop to build interdisciplinary teams for research and funding in the broad area of solving problems using groups of people, animals, and robots working together. The first CSU ISTeC PAR (People-Animals-Robots) Laboratory workshop will be held on Wednesday, February 27, 2008, from 12:00-2:00 p.m. in room 215 of the Lory Student Center. Lunch will be served. This is an initial meeting and everyone is invited to express their thoughts and interests about potential projects that fit within the PAR theme of using people, animals, and/or robots together to solve problems in care for the elderly or disabled, disaster management, homeland security, military scenarios, etc. The purpose of this meeting is to organize common interest groups and identify leaders to pursue PAR research opportunities. There are 20 scheduled talks with speakers from eight departments. The talks will be limited to about 5 minutes each. The remainder of the workshop time will be used for discussions, brain-storming, and group organization. The teams will prepare about two slides each for presentation on April 7 to Dr. van Tilborg, Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Science and Technology, who will be at CSU as an ISTeC Distinguished Lecturer. These slides also will be used to present to other potential funding agencies, as well as to campus groups.
