Research Advisory Committee (RAC) Meeting

New membersDon Zimmerman, Jan Hannig, and Bruce Draper were introduced.

IS&T Faculty Database
MaryAnn Stroub the ISTeC web administrator indicated that she has the IS&T Faculty database (populated) – but is still trying to obtain the interface files from ACNS. This job was turned over to MaryAnn after Todd Shimoda left.

Retreat follow-up
Louis Scharf discussed the importance of the continuation of the working groups that were defined at the retreat in May. He suggests that maybe they take the format of an “Advanced Seminar” series. Bruce Draper indicated that he thought there was a problem about lack of notification of possible interested parties. The email list used for the initial retreat invitations can be used to broaden the notification. Sanjay will make contact with working group leaders to make sure that meetings start.

There was discussion of creation of a Graduate Student recruitment day – similar to the EAC IS&T Day for High School Students. It was agreed that this was a good idea but that it would have to probably be web-based in order to reach an international audience. Discussions will continue in the future.

The next monthly meeting is Wednesday, October 6, at 10:30 in the ECE conference room, Engr C101B.
