Fall 2005
ISTeC supported the development of the “Applied Computing Technology Concentration in Computing Education.”  The purpose of this program is to supply high school teachers with high quality computer science and instructional technology skills.

Future Vision 2010
September 9, 2005
This full day conference focused on the future of information technology in 2010.  ISTeC co-sponsored this one-day conference with the Hewlett-Packard Company.  Held on the CSU campus, it featured over 40 academic and corporate guest speakers who are experts in their fields.

Fall 2003:
- Submitted pre-proposal to the National Science Foundation (NSF Program # 02-147; Division of Elementary, Secondary, and Informal Education; Program Title: Information Technology Experiences for Students and Teachers, Comprehensive Projects for Students and Teachers); proposal is still under review.
- Title: ITEST@CSU (Information Technology in Engineering, Science, and Technology at Colorado State University).
- Project Description: The ITEST@CSU project will kickstart a sustainable program of year-long, IT-rich experiences for secondary school students, utilizing summer academies for secondary school science, technology, engineering, and mathematics teachers, combined with an innovative Web portal, video, and research-based content.

- Date submitted: October 17, 2003.
- Project Request: $ 1,104,947.00.

Fall 2003:
- Submitted grant proposal to the CIT (Colorado Institute of Technology) "Call for Proposals in Research and Education"; proposal is still under review.
- Title: Information Technology Experiences for Students and Teachers in K-12 within Colorado (ITESTK-12).
- Project Description: This is a yearlong project for junior high school and high school teachers to learn to use IT in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) related courses.
- Principal Investigators: Michael De Miranda, School of Education, and Ralph H. Castain, Electrical and Computer Engineering.
- Date submitted: October 31, 2003.
- Project Request: $252,950.00.

Fall 2003:
- Title: CSU ISTeC Workshop on the University Online Electronic Portfolio.
- Speakers: Jeff Rutenbeck and Julanna Gilbert, University of Denver.
The University of Denver Portfolio Community is an Internet application that is used for posting student and faculty portfolios for both internal and external access, allowing review by the university community and external agencies for internships, grant applications, and hiring purposes.
- Date: September 19, 2003.
- Chair: Pete Seel, Journalism and Technical Communication.
- Attendance: about 20 people from CSU.
- Result: The ISTeC Education Advisory Committee is exploring a possible portfolio development partnership with the University of Denver.

Spring 2002:
- ISTeC received $232,000 grant from CIT (Colorado Institute of Technology) for developing nine "Interdisciplinary Studies Program in IS&T" courses for online delivery, aimed at community colleges and other interested parties. As of Fall 2003, three courses are completed, three are in development, and the final three will be completed by Fall 2004.
- Principal Investigators: Pete Seel, Journalism and Technical Communication, Jamie Switzer, Journalism and Technical Communication, and Karen Kaminski, Office of Instructional Services.

Fall 2001:
- ISTeC supported the development of the "Interdisciplinary Studies Program in Information Science and Technology" for undergraduates. This program was approved in Fall 2001, and the first students enrolled in Spring 2002. By including courses from four departments and colleges, this innovative program provides majors in non-IS&T areas with a knowledge of IS&T fundamental concepts and skills that will enhance their understanding of technology and their career options. In Spring 2003, the first student graduated with this "minor." In Fall 2003, 18 students were enrolled in this program.

Summer 2001:
- Received $20,000 grant from CIT (Colorado Institute of Technology) for "Introducing Computer Science, A Summer Program." This was a two-week program for junior high girls to introduce them to computer science.
- Principal Investigators: Y. Malaiya, S. Ghosh, and S. Schleiffers, Computer Science.
