2) Talented IT high school students and counselor ISTeC day at CSU. This recruitment strategy is designed to recruit the brightest and most promising high school students by inviting them and their counselors/parents to an IS&T day at CSU. Discussion was held on engaging our industry partners with this effort as well. The event will engage students through guest speakers, tours of CSU IS&T related programs, meeting with students and faculty and having some activities for our student guests. Talk surrounded also having a culminating activity ending in a nice dinner with faculty, industry representatives, counselors, students and possibly their parents. Discussion of the planning progress of the high school student and counselor event at CSU was discussed. Michael reported that the leadership of the Colorado School Counselors Association and several faculty members at CSU who are active members have been contacted to serve on the task force to plan this event. Professor Rich Feller is discussing the potential to link our ISTeC activity with a professional development project for counselors he is working on. Scott Webb has volunteered to work with industry involved in this event and planning. The committee felt that enough synergy has developed around this project that a task force could continue the work and report to the EAC. The formation of a task force was approved.
