Research Workshops are meetings that are internal workshops on focused topic areas faculty propose, for the purpose of growing CSU IS&T research groups. Each workshop may include an external guest speaker, Workshops differ from Research Retreats in terms of having a much more narrow scope of technical area(s) and a smaller attendance.

Workshop on Engineering Software for Scientific Applications

This workshop focused on the challenges of developing software to support scientific research. The targeted participants were CSU scientists who need to develop relatively complex software either as a research product or as a tool to support research. The software can range from web applications built to access and visualize large data sets, to complex modeling and simulation software that run on distributed computing platforms.

The University of Denver Portfolio Community is an Internet application that is used for posting student and faculty portfolios for both internal and external access, allowing review by the university community and external agencies for internships, grant applications, and hiring purposes.

This workshop was about the formation of a Colorado state-wide computing grid.
